During an online press conference held on Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced the good news that the fresh rate has come down to around 8500 and the positivity rate has dipped at 12 percent, recalling the time when cases were beyond 28,000.

Delhi CM also announced financial help to those families who have lost their earning member because of coronavirus infection and would bear the cost of education and upbringing of children orphaned by the pandemic.

Kejriwal said, “I know many children who have lost both their parents. I want to tell them that I am still there. Do not consider yourself an orphan. The Delhi government will take care of their studies and upbringing.” 

He further said, “I know elderly citizens who have lost their children. They depended on their earning. I want to tell them that their son is still alive. The government will financially help such families who have lost their earning member.”

Talking about the availability of ICU beds and medical oxygen, CM said, “We have been working in this direction. Around 1,200 more ICU beds are being prepared. More beds with medical oxygen are being added and more oxygen cylinders being procured.” 

Arvind Kejriwal tweeted and wrote, “Delhi is in better condition but the fight against coronavirus is still on. In this difficult phase, I’m with you all.”

CM Kejriwal praised the citizens for their cooperation in reducing the rate of fresh Covid cases but also warned that the battle is still not over.

He said, “There is no guarantee that the cases will remain low, city may face the crisis once again. So, Stay Safe.”

He also assured that the authorities have been working for fulfilling the demands of medical facilities and would be ready to fight against the third wave of coronavirus.”
