Delhi CP writes a letter to fellow policemen, thanked them for maintaining restrain during the R-Day chaos

Over 400 police personnel were injured in the farmers’ tractor violence and are getting treatment now.

Delhi Police Commissioner SN Srivastava has written a letter to fellow policemen after the Republic Day violence and lauded them for their courage and for maintaining restraint during the Republic Day chaos. He also asked them to remain vigilant and alert for the coming days as the farmer's protest continues.

Delhi Police Commissioner said, "You showed great patience despite the farmers' agitation turning violent. 394 of our friends were injured in the violence & some are in hospital. I met some of them, they are being given proper treatment.”

"I would like to tell you that the coming days can be very challenging for us. So, we will have to be alert. We will have to remain patient and disciplined. I thank you for your patience and restraint," Delhi CP in a letter to staff.


Delhi Police on Wednesday issued notices to around 20 farmer leaders for breaking the agreement of tractor rally route. 

Darshan Pal, a farmer leader has been asked to explain why legal action should not be taken against him for the violence during the tractor rally on Republic Day that has shamed the entire country. 

The police in the notice said, "You are asked to explain as to why legal action should not be taken against you and other members of your organisation given the breach of agreement with police, rampant vandalisation and violence by your supporters, desecration of national monuments like Red Fort, and causing inconvenience to various people in the city who were celebrating Republic Day.”

The Delhi CP in a statement said that he won’t spare the wrongdoers and said what happened during the tractor rally was “deplorable and anti-national act”. 

The Delhi Police also asked the farmer leaders to provide names of the perpetrators of the violent acts from their organisation. The farmer leaders are directed to submit their responses within 3 days.
