Delhi Excise Policy Scam: Raid on two big officers of the Excise Department by ED in Chandigarh, claim sources

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids at various locations across the country in connection to the Delhi Excise policy scam case.

As a part of its ongoing probe into the Delhi Excise Policy Scam, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has now reached Chandigarh.

The sources have claimed that ED has been conducting raids at the residence of two big officers of the Excise and Taxation Department in Chandigarh since morning. Till now there has been no official statement regarding the raid.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting raids at various locations across the country in connection to the Delhi Excise policy scam case.

Reportedly, the raids are being carried out at more than 30 locations. The raids are being conducted in Gurugram, UP, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, etc. The case of ED is based on the FIR by the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The FIR by CBI has made Sisodia the number one accused in its FIR. The FIR has been lodged under sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 477-A (Falsification of accounts) of the IPC. There are allegations against him that liquor businessmen were allegedly given an exemption of Rs 30 crore and that the license holders were allegedly given extensions according to their own will.

The FIR also revealed that Sisodia and a few liquor barons were actively involved in managing and diverting the undue pecuniary advantage collected from liquor licenses to public servants, who have been accused in the case.

"Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the then Commissioner (Excise), Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise), and Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were instrumental in recommending and taking decisions about excise policy for the year 2021-22 without the approval of competent authority to extend undue favors to the licensee post tender," read the FIR
