Delhi gears up for mass vaccination, needs 85,000 doses daily

As the covid19 crisis worsens in National Capital Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has said that the state administration has geared up for mass vaccination. For this purpose, the capital would need around 80,000 to 85,000 vaccine doses per day.

While addressing a press conference, CM Arvind Kejriwal said that around 300 centers are set up for the vaccination. The administration aims to complete the vaccination drive in the next three months only if it gets an adequate supply of doses.

“At present, around 100 vaccination centers are operational in Delhi and around 200 more centers will come up in the next few days. Delhi would need around 3 crore vaccines in the next three months to cater to more than 2 crore population of the national capital,” said Arvind Kejriwal.

So far Delhi has received around 40 lakh vaccines and needs 2.60 crores more in the next three months. The CM said, “As of today around 1 lakh people are getting jabs per day in Delhi. We can increase this number up to 3 lakh per day. We have increased our vaccination sites and many more to be set up soon.”

The decision comes after it was warned that the third wave of coronavirus will again hit the nation. Delhi government is willing to vaccinate all its citizens within the next three months. Arvind Kejriwal has requested the Center government to provide adequate vaccine to Delhi. “Delhi government wants to vaccinate all eligible people before the next wave of the pandemic,” said CM Kejriwal.

Meanwhile, on May 7, the Delhi government has decided to announce a mass vaccination drive for all the media houses whether electronic, digital, or print. Arvind Kejriwal also directed officials to ensure that no patient dies of the scarcity of oxygen.
