Following a light drizzle in parts of Delhi-NCR, areas of air quality and temperature improved slightly on Saturday morning. However, most regions continue to be in the “poor” to “very poor” category for air quality.
As reported by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) for various locations sat well over 200 as of early Saturday.
Anand Vihar's reported level was 222, while the area adjoining the Delhi Technological University (DTU) recorded 206. Dwarka Sector 8's AQI was 210, while ITO recorded a relatively better figure of 146. Around India Gate, the AQI was 177, which is an improvement from 250 recorded on Friday.
The drizzle brought some respite, but Delhi has been facing the brunt of poor air quality for the last several days.
In response to rising pollution levels, CAQM has enforced Stage 1 Restrictions of GRAP on Delhi-NCR regions. These measures kick in when average AQI settles between 201 and 300, deemed ‘poor.’
