‘Depressed’Amritsar Financer ends life after killing wife, 5-year-old son

Vikramjit Singh Mann, a Amritsar-based financer had allegedly committed suicideafter shooting his wife and five-year-old son at Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagarnear Mehta Road. 

Peopleclose to the family said that Vikramjit was in depression due to heavy losses inbusiness. A well-off financer, Vikramjit in his suicide note stated thathe suffered a lot due to the covid-19 lockdown. He had invested a huge amountworth rupees lakhs in the market; however, he failed to recover that owing tolockdown.  

Hequoted losses he faced as the sole reason behind taking this extreme step. Asper reports, he first killed his wife – Yadkiran Kaur Mann and the son –Varsirat Singh, and then later on he shot himself dead. After hearing the soundof continuous gunfire, people gathered at the scene and somehow broke the doorand entered inside the house.

Accordingto neighbours, the three succumbed to their injuries even before being taken tothe hospital. Meanwhile, Police party led by ADCP Harpal Singh reached thespot.

Hesaid that all the three bodies have been sent for the post-mortem that will beconducted on Tuesday morning. The relatives and friends of the deceased familyhave reached the spot and we are investigating the matter.
