Vikramjit Singh Mann, a Amritsar-based financer had allegedly committed suicide after shooting his wife and five-year-old son at Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar near Mehta Road.
People close to the family said that Vikramjit was in depression due to heavy losses in business. A well-off financer, Vikramjit in his suicide note stated that he suffered a lot due to the covid-19 lockdown. He had invested a huge amount worth rupees lakhs in the market; however, he failed to recover that owing to lockdown.
He quoted losses he faced as the sole reason behind taking this extreme step. As per reports, he first killed his wife – Yadkiran Kaur Mann and the son – Varsirat Singh, and then later on he shot himself dead. After hearing the sound of continuous gunfire, people gathered at the scene and somehow broke the door and entered inside the house.
According to neighbours, the three succumbed to their injuries even before being taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, Police party led by ADCP Harpal Singh reached the spot.
He said that all the three bodies have been sent for the post-mortem that will be conducted on Tuesday morning. The relatives and friends of the deceased family have reached the spot and we are investigating the matter.
