DistrictPublic Relations Office, Patiala, January 2: Patiala District to conduct DryRun for COVID Vaccination at three sites; Rajindra Hospital (Govt Facility),Sadbhavna Hospital (Private Facility) and Community Health Center Shutrana,tomorrow, said the deputy commissioner, Kumar Amit after chairing the reviewcum training meeting, held today, at Government Mata Kaushalya HospitalPatiala. 

Divulgingthe details, Mr Kumar Amit said that as per the instructions of the Departmentof Family and Welfare Punjab, Patiala would be the third district after Ludhianaand Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, where the Dry Run is being conducted to checkthe preparations and other arrangements before conducting the real vaccinationdrive in near future. 

Inthis regard, 15 vaccination teams based on Supervisors, SMOs, Doctors and ANMswere briefed about the whole process they have to adopt on January 3 during DryRun, added the deputy Commissioner. During the training session, experts fromthe United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and World Health Organizationexamined the modalities prescribed for introduction of Covid-19 vaccine in thehealth system. The test link of the Co-Win portal set up for the exercise,including the prescribed operation method, was explained in detail. 

Onthis occasion Mr. Kumar Amit informed that on 3rd January the dummyimmunization practice would be conducted at Rajindra Hospital (GovernmentMedical College), Private facility Sadbhavna Hospital and Outreach facility CHCShutrana have been finalised. He said that as per the directions of the Chief MinisterCaptain Amarinder Singh and the Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, allpreparations for this exercise have been completed. He said that the purpose ofthis exercise was to test the preparations for Corona Vaccination so that afterthe successful launch of immunisation drive on the registered beneficiaries,the rest of the categories to be covered successfully. 

TheDeputy Commissioner said that the dry run that was being conducted on January3, would paves the way for administering the Vaccine to the beneficiariesalready identified through Corona Vaccination Electronic Application Co-Win,including Health Care Workers (approximately 8716 from private and publicsector) under the first phase, ranging from cleaners to doctors. In the secondphase, the vaccine will be given to frontline workers, those having age above50 years and the persons with serious illness. He clarified that this vaccinewill not be available in general but this vaccine will be given only to thosewho have already registered on the portal. 

Duringthe training, UNDP Project Officer (Operations), Meenakshi Deol said thatmandatory COVID precautions, social distancing of minimum 6 feet, propersanitation of hands and wearing a mask should be maintained at the time ofvaccination besides maintaining the confidentiality of the beneficiary. Duringthe rehearsal, she explained in detail about the introduction of COVID-19vaccination, planning, completion process, operation method of Co-winapplication, challenges and its various stages.

WorldHealth Organization, SMO, Dr. Gagan Sharma said that the beneficiary must beregistered for this vaccination and he must be monitored for half an hour afteradministering the vaccine. On this occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner(Development) Dr. Preeti Yadav asked all the teams to discharge theirresponsibilities diligently so that this exercise could be carried outsuccessfully. 

Lateron, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit accompanied by COVID Incharge ofRajindra Hospital Mrs. Surbhi Malik and ADC (D) Dr. Preeti Yadav reviewed thepreparations at Ward No. 5 of Rajindra Hospital, where the corona vaccinationexercise is to be held on January 3. 

Duringthe training at Mata Kaushalya Hospital, Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinder Pal Singh,Extra Assistant Commissioner (UT) Jagnur Singh Grewal, State ImmunizationOfficer Dr. Balwinder Kaur, District Immunization Officer Dr. Veenu Goyal,Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr. Parveen Puri, District Health Officer JatinderKansal and senior medical officers were also present.
