Mr. Chander Gaind, Divisional Commissioner, PatialaDivision, today started the review of COVID-19 arrangements and vaccination inthe districts of Patiala Division by holding the first meeting with PatialaDistrict Administration, Health and Government Medical College authorities. Hesaid that he would soon conduct such meetings with other districts of thedivision for taking stock of COVID arrangements on place, in coming days tokeep a close eye on the situation.

After chairing a meeting with Deputy Commissioner, KumarAmit and other officials, Mr. Chander Gaind said that for the proper care ofCOVID patients, government and private hospitals in the district have adequateLevel-2 and Level-3 facilities besides a sufficient number of vacant beds,Medical oxygen, ventilator-equipped beds, etc. All other arrangements, including the stock of essential medicines, is well underway, while the vaccinationcampaign for administering the COVID vaccine is in full swing.

He further said that as many as 480 Level-2 beds weremade available in Government Hospitals including Government Rajindra Hospital,out of which 312 are still available. Similarly, 78 out of 100 Level-3 beds arein use. Similarly, 127 out of 169 Level-2 beds in private hospitals have beenused and 31 out of 49 Level-3 beds have been occupied.

He said that apart from this, the number of tests hasbeen increased as per the directions of Chief Minister Captain AmarinderSingh to check the COVID cases and to ensure their contact tracing and now 2.54lakh persons per Million population are being tested. Out of which, as of April22, 29056 positive cases were reported. Out of these positive cases, as many as21823 cases were put in home isolation, out of which 3092 are still active.

Mr. Gaind also appealed to the people not to panic as thesituation in Patiala district was under control. Apart from this, the districtadministration has been keeping a close watch on the situation from all anglesand at the same time the Punjab Government, Departments of Health and FamilyWelfare and Medical Education and Research, have been working day and night forthe treatment and care of COVID infected patients. He also asked the people toextend their fullest cooperation to the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singhfor the success of Mission Fateh launched to make the state COVID-19 free bytaking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Mr. Chander Gaind sought detailed information from theCivil Surgeon about the surge in Covid-19 cases in Patiala district, theircontact tracing, testing, active cases in home isolation and private andgovernment hospitals and a number of containment zones. Medical Superintendent ofthe Government Rajindra Hospital apprised the Divisional Commissioner about thearrangements are done at Hospital as a tertiary care medical institution.

Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kumar Amit apprised about the current situation in the district and said that the district administration wasfully prepared to deal with any emergent situation in wake of COVID. Nightcurfew and other necessary measures have been taken by issuing prohibitoryorders to contain the CORONA Virus, for which the entire machinery of civil andpolice administration is in operation.

Surabhi Malik, in-charge of Tertiary care COVID ward ofGovernment Rajindra Hospital, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Pooja SayalGrewal, SDM Patiala Charanjit Singh, Civil Surgeon Dr. Satinder Singh, MedicalSuperintendent Rajindra Hospital Dr. Harnam Singh Rekhi, Deputy MedicalSuperintendent Dr. Vinod Dangwal were also present in the review meeting.
