DistrictMagistrate (DM) Ghanshyam Thori on Tuesday imposed the restrictions on burstingof firecrackers for Christmas and New Year Celebrations in the jurisdiction ofthe district.
TheDistrict Magistrate said that people can burst the firecrackers from 11.55 pmto 12.30 am only on the eve of Christmas and New Year Celebrations.
Hesaid that only green crackers (those crackers that do not use barium salts orcompounds of antimony, Lithium, Mercury, Arsenic Lead, or strontium chromate)would be allowed to be sold and used in Punjab.
Thorisaid that the bursting of firecrackers is completely prohibited at any time inSilence Zone (i.e near Hospital, Educational institutions, courts, etc.) andwithin the limits of Suchi Pind and nearby areas of IOC, BPCL, and HPCL OilTerminals.
Hesaid that the people adhere to the directions of the Punjab and Haryana HighCourt and Punjab Government and avoid bursting the firecrackers beyond thepermitted timings.
TheDistrict Magistrate said that the administration would take strict actionagainst the erring persons.
