'Do not panic' says Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan amid coronavirus fears

Amid the global coronavirus scare, India has now confirmed 29 cases of infection, Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan in the Rajya Sabha said there is no need to create panic as PM Modi himself is monitoring and reviewing the situation.

On Thursday, Union Health Minister while speaking in Rajya Sabha over coronavirus outbreak and how it has impacted the nation said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along-with PM Modi is reviewing and monitoring the situation on a daily basis. 

"I am daily reviewing the situation. A Group of Ministers is also monitoring the situation," Harsh Vardhan said.

Total 29 cases reported have been reported by March 4, out of them, three are from Kerala who have been released. One more has tested positive in Delhi, who has a travel history to Italy," added the minister.

Since January 17, India initiated required preparedness and action, much before advice of the World Heath Organisation said the Health Minister. He also briefed  Rajya Sabha that till March 4, around 6,11,176 passengers have been screened at different points.

On Wednesday, the health minister Harsh Vardhan had announced that all international flights and passengers will now have to undergo screening, and not just the 12 countries listed earlier.

While addressing to the media, the minister said that he met the Delhi Health Minister and civic body officials, and urged them to augment facilities of isolation wards in city hospitals.
