The rape & murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor of RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata has started to puzzle the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). On Sunday, CBI conducted a polygraph aka lie-detector test of the key accused Sanjay Roy in the Kolkata doctor rape & murder case. Sanjay Roy had consented to the polygraph test after the consultation with his lawyer, as a result, CBI carried out the lie-detector test. As per reports, the polygraph test has flagged Sanjay Roy's several revelations as false and unconvincing. Sanjay has made multiple U-turns from his own confession during the CBI interrogation.
Reports suggest that during the polygraph test, Sanjay Roy said the woman doctor was already dead when he reached the seminar hall of the RG Kar hospital where the body was found on August 9. This statement is totally opposite to what he gave to Kolkata Police and the CBI during the interrogation. During the lie-detector test, a news portal quoted a source who informed that Sanjay seemed nervous and anxious when he took the polygraph. He was confronted with multiple evidence to which he cited alibis and told the investigation team that the victim was already dead when he spotted her, following which he ran from the premises in fear.
However, Sanjay Roy’s lawyer Kavita Sarkar alleged that the defence counsel was not informed about the time and venue of the polygraph test. As a result of this, a defence lawyer was unable to be present during the test, which is in violation of guidelines by the National Human Rights Commission.
What did Sanjay Roy reveal during the CBI Interrogation?
A separate report quoted a CBI official who informed what Sanjay Roy actually revealed during the interrogation. According to report, Sanjay Roy talked about the night when the rape & murder took place and what did he do on that particular night. Sanjay Roy admitted to visiting two red light areas in the city however not having any adult activity. He also confessed to molesting a woman in the street while travelling to Chetla (red light area) with a friend, an act that was captured on CCTV. Additionally, Sanjay Roy revealed that he had a video call with his girlfriend and asked her for her X-rated photos.
