Dr Paramjit Mann elected as president IMA, Punjab, with thumping majority

Dr Mann, the former general secretary of IMA, Punjab has always been very vocal about the rights of doctors in the state. He had opposed the Punjab Clinical Establishment Act, centre’s attempt to legitimise ‘mixopathy’, violence on doctors and among other issues.

Dr Paramjit Mann, a pediatrician from Nawanshahr, has been elected as the president of the Punjab unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) today.

Dr Mann, the former general secretary of IMA, Punjab has always been very vocal about the rights of doctors in the state. He had opposed the Punjab Clinical Establishment Act, centre’s attempt to legitimise ‘mixopathy’, violence on doctors and among other issues.

Besides, he organised various medical check-up camps at Pathlawa village and among other districts to help state government fight against covid-19. During the lockdown, Dr Mann kept visiting police stations and police nakas in the Nawanshahr district to examine the frontline warriors. He then examined more than 200 cops. Also, along with other IMA office-bearers he had been giving valuable tips to combat the pandemic, said, Dr Navjot Dahiya.

Meanwhile, the IMA unit of Punjab congratulated Dr Mann and said he would ensure ethical practices in the medical profession and will also take care that the doctor-patient relation would improve in future.
