Drishyam director Nishikant Kamat passes away at 50, Bollywood mourns his death

Earlier in the day, Riteish had shared that the filmmaker was fighting for life and had prayed for his recovery.

In a major jolt to the film industry, filmmaker Nishikant Kamat (50) has passed away today at a city hospital in Hyderabad. Reportedly, the filmmaker had been diagnosed with Chronic Liver Disease and other secondary infections. 

However, the news was confirmed by Riteish Deshmukh on Twitter. "I will miss you my friend. #NishikantKamat Rest In Peace," read the post.

Earlier in the day, Riteish had shared that the filmmaker was fighting for life and had prayed for his recovery. Nishikant Kamat was known for directing Bollywood films like the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer 'Drishyam', and Irrfan Khan’s 'Madaari'. He has also worked with John Abraham in two films, 'Force' and 'Rocky Handsome'.

Nishikant Kamat was also a renowned director of Marathi films. He had called the shots for hits like Riteish Deshmukh starrer ‘Lai Bhaari’ as well as Swwapnil Joshi’s ‘Fugay’.
