OTT Dunki Dunki True Story

Among the most-awaited movies of the year, Dunki is all set to be released in theaters worldwide on December 21, 2023. Directed by filmmaker Raj Kumari Hirani, Dunki features Shah Rukh Khan, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal (in a special appearance), Taapsee Pannun, and more in the leading roles. Dunki is the first film that has brought together film-maker Raj Kumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan. Dunki is a romantic comedy that revolves around a group of friends who aspire to go to London, however, they lack knowledge of English. Dunki is a typical Raju Hirani movie that will give a strong message on a lighter note just like Munna Bhai MBBS and Lage Raho Munna Bhai. Recently, Shah Rukh Khan, Rajkumar Hirani, and Taapsee Pannun in a discussion talked about the inside story of Dunki and how Jalandhar played a major role in the inspiration behind the movie. Not only this but SRK and Hirani revealed that they were left amazed when they came to know about Jalandhar's 'Visa Wala Gurudwara' or 'Visa Gurudwara.

Dunki's real 'Visa Wala Gurudwara'

During their discussions for the Red Chillies YouTube Channel, Shah Rukh Khan revealed that Rajkumar Hirai sent him an image of Gurudawara where people go to pray for visas.

Responding to it, Rajkumar Hirani said, "This is called Visa 'Wala' Gurudwara. When you visit the Gurudwara, there are shops outside that sell toy airplanes. People buy it and offer it inside the Gurudwara. People even take their passports with them to the Gurudwara. People show their passports to God and pray that their Visa get accepted. I talked to many people there and got to know thousands of people come to pray daily for their visas."

'Real-life' Visa Gurudwara in Jalandhar

As per reports, the Gurudwara that amazed SRK & Hirani is none other than Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Gurudwara near Jalandhar. Reportedly, estimation suggests that the neighbouring area of Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur and Phagwara has over 6,00,000 NRIs (Non-Resident Indians). Most of the toy airplanes are offered on weekends at Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Gurudwara.  Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh gurudwara is located in Talhan dist. about 10kms from Jalandhar.

This 150-year-old Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Gurdwara is a popular name among visa seekers. Locals of the place believe that if a person wants to go abroad, the person may pray here and soon he will be able to get a ticket and visit the destination of his choice.

It is pertinent to mention here that the ritual to offer toy airplanes is no longer in existence at Shaheed Baba Nihal Singh Gurdwara.
