In a major development, the e-registration system is undergoing a significant change across all sub-registrar offices in Punjab. Under the new arrangement, the entire process of deed writing will shift to an online system, granting deed writers and advocates the authority to access the platform before the actual registration. From now on, residents can call the helpline number 1076 and avail the doorstep service even for the purpose of getting property deeds written. Government employees will be dispatched to their homes to assist in this process, providing major convenience and relief to the general public.
Before this, individuals had to visit the sub-registrar offices in advance for tasks such as photo capturing, Aadhaar verification, and document scanning. Due to heavy crowds and long queues, people faced difficulties, especially during peak summer months. Additionally, multiple visits were required due to repeated corrections in documents.
However, with the updated system, people can now book appointments from home through 1076 and avail the doorstep service for deed writing. This move will eliminate the need for repeated visits and long wait times.
Not only this, but the Punjab government has extended the deadline for deed line registration from June 15 to June 20. Furthermore, new staff will be deployed at designated counters in sub-registrar offices to ensure smooth operations of the new e-registration system. Residents will only need to visit the office once for final verification. Before that, government teams will conduct pre-checks 48 hours in advance. People can now track their registration status, including office details and queue positions, in real-time.
