The financial capital of India i.e. Mumbai is all set to witness a major controversy over the fake TRP Scam case. It is only a matter of time when the central investigative agencies will lock horns with the state. Amidst Mumbai Police continuous attempts to circle Republic TV Chief Arnab Goswami in the TRP manipulation case, the Enforcement Directiorate has made its presence felt the Maharashtra State Government.
Going by the reports of OP India, the ED has summoned India Today’s Group CFO for questioning in the TRP manipulation case. The Group CFO has been summoned to Mumbai from Delhi in the course of the investigation into the fake TRP scandal and is expected to appear on Monday.
TRP manipulation case came after Hansa Research Report filed an FIR alleging the TRP manipulation. It particularly stated India Today's name in the FIR, however, the Mumbai Police Commissioner did not take its name during the press conference and allege that Republic TVs name has come into the investigation. Ever since then, the Mumbai Police has conducted various arrests including former BARC COO. Mumbai Police alleges that some BARC officials were sharing inside information with the Republic TV.
The ED is investigating money laundering allegations and it was reported that all channels mentioned in the original FIR would be probed. It was also reported that along with the channels named in the original FIR, which did not have the name of Republic TV, the Mumbai Police probe could also be under scrutiny
