Now, a local court in Punjab extended the custody of Bhupinder Singh under Enforcement Directorate (ED) for three more days i.e. till February 11.

The arrest materialized when the central government agency - a law enforcement agency and economic intelligence agency responsible for enforcing economic laws and fighting economic crime in India - executed raids on the premises of Bhupinder Singh and his business partners.

Cities of Mohali, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Rupnagar, and Pathankot saw these raids.

On its part, the ED claims that cash of Rs 10 crore, and valuable have been recovered in these raids conducted on Jan 18 and 19.

The agency claims that three individuals - Bhupinder Singh, Kumar, and Kudrat Deep Singh - established a company named Provider Overseas Consultancy Limited in the year 2018 with each person being an equal partner.

As per a report available on the website of the union ministry of corporate affairs, the company had a turnover of Rs 18.77 lakh in 2019-2020.
