Education Department conducted one day training workshop for English teachers in collaboration with United States Embassy

International trainers Ruth Goode and Madison Nunes provide training on effective teacher observation

Under the leadership of Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, efforts are being made by the Education Department to train teachers of government schools at international level. A one day workshop on Effective Teaching of English Teachers in Schools and their Observations was organized by Regional English Language Office (RELO) New Delhi in collaboration with the Embassy of United States of America in the conference hall of Head Office under the supervision of Director State Council of Educational Research and Training Punjab.

Punjab Dr. Maninder Singh Sarkaria said that Regional English Language Office (RELO) has started functioning from June 2022 to provide English training to government school teachers. Along with this, teachers working in schools are given detailed information about what other things should be kept in mind while teaching English. He said that in the near future, the Regional English Language Office (RELO) would also start a six-month certificate course, which only selected teachers would be able to do. He said that RELO has been successfully running teacher training programs in collaboration with the Delhi government since 2017. Ruth Goode, Regional English Language Officer, Regional English Language Office (RELO), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Embassy of the United States of America, said that she would enjoy this training workshop. It was a pleasure to meet a group of talented, hardworking and motivated teachers from Punjab. These teachers have a passion for learning. She thanked Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma Special Secretary-cum-Director General School Education and Dr. Maninder Singh Sarkaria Director SCERT for this event. Madison Nunes also shared her international teaching experience with teachers. Certificates were also awarded to the teachers who participated in this training workshop by the Regional English Language Office (RELO), New Delhi in collaboration with the United States Embassy.

On this occasion Rajesh Bhardwaj Assistant Director Training SCERT, Punjab, Shweta Khanna Regional English Language Specialist, Embassy of USA, Chandra Shekhar State Resource Person English and Social Education, Rajinder Singh Chani State Media Coordinator, Amardeep Singh Bath State Media Coordinator Social, Navneet Kaur, Iqbal Kaur, Harvinder Singh and others were present.
