Education department released Rs 4 crore to convert 738 government schools into smart schools

Chandigarh, January 12: Under the leadership of Punjab Education Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla and guidance of Education Secretary Mr. Krishan Kumar the education department has released  an amount of Rs. 4 crore to convert government schools into smart schools. 

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the education department said that under the 'Smart School Campaign' the schools are being revamped and state-of-the-art technology is being provided to the government schools to make them smart. 

According to the spokesperson, a letter has been issued in this regard by the Director General of School Education-cum-SPD to all the District Education Officers (DOs). Accordingly 738 government schools would be converted into smart schools. Under this grant, Rs. 15,000 per school has been released to government primary and middle schools for beautification of gates, Rs. 25,000 per school for color coding and Rs. 10,000 per school for education parks. Similarly 18,000 per school for beautification of gate of government high and senior secondary schools, Rs. 50,000 per school for color coding of high schools and Rs. 75,000 per school for senior secondary schools and Rs. 20,000 per school for high and senior secondary schools for education parks.

According to the spokesperson, out of this grant Rs 24.84 lakh has been released for 51 schools of Amritsar, Rs 17.60 lakh for 37 schools of Barnala, Rs 23.19 lakh for 36 schools of Bathinda, Rs 17.42 lakh for 30 schools of Faridkot, Rs 12.17 lakh for 24 schools of Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 22.93 lakh for 30 schools of Fazilka, Rs. 24.78 lakh for 40 schools of Ferozepur, Rs. 23.74 lakh for 36 schools of Gurdaspur, Rs. 8.59 lakh for 14 schools of Hoshiarpur, Rs. 26.02 lakh for 35 schools of Jalandhar, Rs. 9.01 crore for 15 schools of Kapurthala. Rs. 27.24 lakh for 42 schools of Ludhiana, Rs. 23.87 lakh for 51 schools of Mansa, Rs. 14.39 lakh for 34 schools of Moga, Rs.6.24 lakh for 17 schools of S.A.S. Nagar, Rs.16.18 lakh for 31 schools of Sri Muktsar Sahib, Rs.21.29 lakh for 49 schools in SBS Nagar, Rs.13.02 lakh for 24 schools of Pathankot, Rs.22.45 lakh for 47 schools of Patiala, Rs.7.17 for 14 schools of Rupnagar, Rs.17.95 lakh for 48 schools of Sangrur and Rs.19.31 lakh for 33 schools of Tarn Taran district. The Education Department has also issued instructions to use this amount judiciously and in accordance with the financial rules.
