Chandigarh, January 12: Under the leadership of PunjabEducation Minister Mr. Vijay Inder Singla and guidance of Education SecretaryMr. Krishan Kumar the education department has released  an amount of Rs. 4 crore to convertgovernment schools into smart schools. 

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the educationdepartment said that under the 'Smart School Campaign' the schools are beingrevamped and state-of-the-art technology is being provided to the governmentschools to make them smart. 

According to the spokesperson, a letter has been issued inthis regard by the Director General of School Education-cum-SPD to all theDistrict Education Officers (DOs). Accordingly 738 government schools would beconverted into smart schools. Under this grant, Rs. 15,000 per school has beenreleased to government primary and middle schools for beautification of gates,Rs. 25,000 per school for color coding and Rs. 10,000 per school for educationparks. Similarly 18,000 per school for beautification of gate of governmenthigh and senior secondary schools, Rs. 50,000 per school for color coding ofhigh schools and Rs. 75,000 per school for senior secondary schools and Rs.20,000 per school for high and senior secondary schools for education parks.

According to the spokesperson, out of this grant Rs 24.84lakh has been released for 51 schools of Amritsar, Rs 17.60 lakh for 37 schoolsof Barnala, Rs 23.19 lakh for 36 schools of Bathinda, Rs 17.42 lakh for 30schools of Faridkot, Rs 12.17 lakh for 24 schools of Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs 22.93lakh for 30 schools of Fazilka, Rs. 24.78 lakh for 40 schools of Ferozepur, Rs.23.74 lakh for 36 schools of Gurdaspur, Rs. 8.59 lakh for 14 schools ofHoshiarpur, Rs. 26.02 lakh for 35 schools of Jalandhar, Rs. 9.01 crore for 15schools of Kapurthala. Rs. 27.24 lakh for 42 schools of Ludhiana, Rs. 23.87lakh for 51 schools of Mansa, Rs. 14.39 lakh for 34 schools of Moga, Rs.6.24lakh for 17 schools of S.A.S. Nagar, Rs.16.18 lakh for 31 schools of SriMuktsar Sahib, Rs.21.29 lakh for 49 schools in SBS Nagar, Rs.13.02 lakh for 24schools of Pathankot, Rs.22.45 lakh for 47 schools of Patiala, Rs.7.17 for 14schools of Rupnagar, Rs.17.95 lakh for 48 schools of Sangrur and Rs.19.31 lakhfor 33 schools of Tarn Taran district. The Education Department has also issuedinstructions to use this amount judiciously and in accordance with thefinancial rules.
