Election dates of 5 states announced; Chhattisgarh-Mizoram to undergo polls on November 7

Ahead of the much-important 2024 General Elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced poll dates for 5 states. Five states of India will undergo polls namely-  Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the Election Dates of states and also laid out some changes in the process of voting. 5 States polling is being termed as the semi-final of the 2024 General Election as it will show where the people of India are inclined.

Chhattisgarh to vote on 7th Nov & 17th Nov; Madhya Pradesh on 17th Nov; Mizoram on 7th Nov, Rajasthan on 23rd Nov and Telangana on 30th Nov; Results on 3rd December. 

 

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar in his address said, "For the upcoming Assembly elections 2023 in five states, 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 assembly constituencies..There will be 17,734 Model polling stations, 621 Polling stations will be managed by PwD staff, and at 8,192 PS women will be in command..With over 940 inter-state border check posts in five states, we will be able to check any cross-border movement of illicit cash, liquor, freebies and drugs."

 

Talking about political parties,  the BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh will elect legislators from 230 constituencies while the Congress-governed Rajasthan Assembly comprises 200 seats. In Telangana, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi will face off against BJP and the Congress over 119 Assembly seats. In the 90-seat Chhattisgarh assembly, Congress is all set to fight the BJP while both parties will attempt to get a foothold in the 40-seat Assembly of Mizoram, currently led by the Mizo National Front.
