Hailing the Congress taking a huge lead over the BJP in the states of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh,Cricketer-turned-politician and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Tuesday said the so called Modi wave was  'short lived'.

Speaking to a news channel, Mr Sindhu, hailing the results of the assembly polls which indicated a win for the Congress in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, said that the impact of the 'Modi wave'  had now ended and now it was all blank.

He compared the Modi wave to a fizz of a soda bottle saying it evaporated as soon as it opend. The fizz lastes only for two to three minutes and then it disappears.Same is the condition of Modi wave, said Sidhu.Talking in a poetic style, the Punjab Minister said, “Wo (Modi wave) kehar ban gayi hai..aam logo ke liye jehar ban gayi hai? (The Modi wave has turned into poison for people)”

He added”You will not decide what is happening. I will not decide what is happening. It is the people of the country who will decide. And people have decided. They have chosen the ocean. Congress is ocean”

In a first major win for Rahul Gandhi since he took over the charge of grand old party, the Congress seemed all set to form government in BJP-ruled Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The counting trends showed the party surging ahead of the BJP in the Hindi heartland states while giving a tough fight to the saffron party in Madhya Pradesh.
