Elon Musk and his girlfriend, Canadian singer Grimes, are "semi-separated" after three years together, the billionaire chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX told Page Six in a story published on Friday.
Despite the break-up though, Elon Musk and Grimes share a cordial relationship and will also continue to co-parent their one-year-old son X Æ A-Xii Musk.
"We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms," Musk said. "It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA," he added. "She's staying with me now and Baby X is in the adjacent room."
Musk, 50, and Grimes,
33, were first romantically linked in May 2018, when they made their public
debut at the Met Gala following his split from actor Amber Heard.
Their son was born in May 2020.
Musk was previously married to Canadian author Justine Wilson and they share five sons. He was also twice married to "Westworld" star Talulah Riley.
Meanwhile, social media users are slightly distressed after hearing about Elon Musk and Grimes’s separation and shared their thoughts on Twitter.

Elon Musk and Grimes were last spotted together at the Met Gala earlier in September. He later threw a starry Met Gala afterparty at hot private members club Zero Bond, where he was joined by Grimes and the duo were photographed leaving New York together the following day.
