The world’s richest man and Tesla Boss Elon Musk presented the latest operational prototype of a humanoid robot being developed by his electric car company.

Named ‘Optimus’ the robot was presented at Tesla’s Artificial Intelligence Day at Silicon Valley, where it waved to the audience and raised its knees.

Musk went on the inform the world through his event that the work is still in progress on the robot but will be made available for public sale in a few years’ time. The Tesla-built robots will be brought into test by the working jobs in the car factories, the engineers said.

The audience at the gathering was shown the video of Optimus, wherein it was seen performing simple tasks, which include watering plants, carrying boxes, and lifting metal bars.

Musk said that the robots will be produced at a price as low as $20,000 which is approximately around 16, 29000 in Indian currency, which is expected to be made available for sale in 3-5 years’ time, and spoke about “a future of abundance” ahead.

However, it is important here to mention that Musk was the one who had once mentioned that “AI is a threat to humanity” and can be far more dangerous.

Although through the latest development he reiterated that Tesla wanted to make sure the transition to a society in which robots did the work and people reaped the benefits was a safe one.

He went on to add, "We always want to be careful we don't go down the Terminator path” by cautioning through a reference to a blockbuster film about a killer cyborg.

Keeping a concern for safety as paramount he said that the company is bringing along a stop button, which cannot be tampered with at any cost.
