Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg: Steps to create an account on Instagram Threads 'Twitter Rival'

Instagram owned by Meta Platform Inc., officially launched Twitter's rival 'Threads' on July 6. Following are the steps you need to follow to create an account on 'Threads'.

- True Scoop

Instagram, owned by Meta Platforms Inc., has officially launched Threads, an app meant as a direct competitor to Twitter, posing the most severe threat yet to Elon Musk's floundering social-media site. Threads is an app for sharing text posts. Users of Instagram Threads can send text updates, participate in public conversations, and follow their friends and content providers on the network. Threads also allows users to like, re-post, and comment to other users' postings. The app went live shortly after midnight Wednesday in the United Kingdom on Apple and Google Android app stores in over 100 countries, including the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and Japan.

Steps to create an account on Instagram Threads:

Step1: One will require an Instagram account for using ‘Threads’.

Step 2: Download the Threads app from Apple store if you own an Apple Iphone or the Google Play Store if you have an Android phone.

Step 3: To begin using the Threads app, click on its black and white icon after downloading it.

Step 4: When the app is opened, click the 'Log in with Instagram button' to sign in with your existing Instagram account.

Step 5: Now, manually add a profile image, bio description, and link. These fields can alternatively be left empty and then filled in afterwards.

Step 6: You can now select whether you want a public or private profile. Threads and Instagram have separate privacy settings.

Step 7: Follow the people that you want to or you skip this step for the time being.

Step 8: On the following page, you will find a brief explanation of how Threads works. After reading, tap 'Join Threads' to begin using the app.

Users can enter up to 500 characters and attach links, photos, and videos no more than 5 minutes in length. When compared to Twitter, the Threads app allows for more characters and longer videos. Instagram and Facebook, both of which are owned by Meta, have a long — and profitable — history of copying products from fledgling internet competitors. The company's Reels feature was a rip-off of TikTok's viral video app, and its Stories disappearing uploads mirrored Snap Inc.'s Snapchat's growth. In the past, Meta's applications have indirectly competed for user attention with Twitter by wooing news publishers, politicians, and other high-profile persons to prefer publishing on one over the other. Threads marks the first time Meta has released a Twitter imitation.
