TheEducation Department’s new initiative — English Booster Club (EBC) atgovernment schools has been generating good responses among the teachers andstudents. They have enthusiasticallybeen taking part in various activities being conducted under EBC.
Afterorganising virtual "Get Together of Teachers" under the aegis ofEnglish Booster Clubs across the state, now another innovative activity -virtual " Stars' Get Together" would be organised at block level indifferent districts upto December 28.
Divulgingdetails, Chander Shekhar, State Resource Person ( English and Social Studies)said that the activities being organised under the aegis of the English BoosterClubs in different schools as well as block and district level had been provinga boon to hone language skills especially building conducive environment toraise confidence level to communicate in English.
"TheEBCs have been motivating students to come forward and showcuriosity to learn the language”, he further said while adding that thestudents’ speaking competency had improved and they no longer possess anyshyness or anxiety while conversing in English.
Hence,with a view to giving fillip to the confidence level of the students, theEducation Department has planned " Stars Get Together". Under thisactivity, about 16 to 20 students belonging to class 9th to 12th alongwith theirguide teachers from each block across the state would participate in theactivity. They would speak on different topics including - " I love myIndia'', " Punjab of my dreams'' , " Views regarding EBC'', "Self Confidence" , " Cleanliness is a bliss" , " View infavour / against use of mobile phone" , " Sports Keep us Fit'' ," Think Before You Speak" , " Manners are the basis ofhumanity" , " I like my new book - Welcome Life", " If Iwere an English Teacher" , " Rest is best or Rest is rust" andany topic of participant's interest. The duration of speech would be 45 to 90seconds.
TheDistrict Resource Persons , District Mentors, Block Mentors and Block MasterTrainers would organise the activity at block level in their respectivedistricts. The DEOs ( Secondary and Primary) would preside over. The DeputyDEOs ( Secondary and Primary), DIET principals, BPEOs, DMs, DRPs, PPDCs, MediaCoordinators would also be invited to join the event as special guests. Theparticipants would be honoured with appreciation certificates by the concernedDEO.
