In Jalandhar, as a result of the new excise policy, the opening of liquor stores has been opposed by the people. The anger of the people erupted in the Model House regarding the liquor shop on Wednesday evening. Rajiv Tikka, a local councilor, staged the first sit-in outside the contract, which resulted in its closure. After that, the atmosphere heated up after an altercation with the Inspector Raman Bhagat of the Excise Department.

Earlier, talks were going on seamlessly, but in the meantime, the shop operators and the inspector of the excise department were accused of how they hit the people present there. Then suddenly the atmosphere got heated. A few individuals in the group—mostly young people—began abusing Inspector Raman Bhagat of the Excise Department.

The excise inspector was barely covered by the police officers on the scene. After this, he was taken to the department's vehicle, but from behind the crowd came fighting with the operators of the shop. Seeing this, Inspector Raman of the Excise Department ran away from the spot. All his gunmen also left there.
