'Entire society will feel ashamed': SC reprimands Ranveer Allahbadia but grants interim protection from arrest

The Supreme Court of India on Tuesday granted interim relief to podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia from arrest in all the FIRs that have been lodged against him. Ranveer Allahbadia has been booked by Mumbai Police, Maharashtra Cyber Cell, and Assam Police in a vulgar joke case that he cracked in Samay Raina-led India's Got Latent. Although Ranveer Allahbadia got interim protection from arrest, the podcaster was reprimanded heavily by the apex court of India. Below is what Supreme Court's directed to Ranveer Allahbadia- 

• Interim relief from arrest subject to his full cooperation with the probe.
• No further FIR shall be registered against him on the basis of the episode aired on show India's Got Latent.
• Supreme Court asked Allahbadia to deposit his passport with the police, and he can’t leave the country without permission from the court.
• Supreme Court also issued notices on his plea seeking clubbing of FIRs and put an interim stay on arrest on FIRs registered in Maharashtra, Assam, and Jaipur subject to his joining investigation.
• He shall be at liberty to approach local police of Maharashtra and Assam for protection of life and liberty in case of any threat impeding him from joining the probe.
• Ranveer Allahbadiaand his associates have also been directed to be off from show business for some time.

Supreme Court's remarks on Ranveer Allahbadia

The Supreme Court condemned Ranveer Allahbadia comments, saying, “Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. The words you have chosen, parents will be ashamed, sisters will be ashamed. Entire society will feel ashamed..Is there anyone on earth who would like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him."
