As per the reports, the beneficiary can use this service without the internet, and additionally, a person can ask for the balance any minute as the service is 24×7.
How do I check the PF balance through a missed call?
According to the reports, to check the balance via a missed call, an individual must give a ring on 9966044425 from their registered mobile number.
The call will be disconnected automatically, and no charges will be applied.
An SMS will be received on the registered mobile number from EPFO, which will have your PF balance and information regarding the last deposit.
However, it is to be noted that this facility can only be availed by people whose mobile number is linked with Universal Account Number (UAN) and the number is linked with the bank, Aadhaar, or PAN card, which means that KYC is completed.
Steps to follow to check balance through SMS -
Send an SMS to 7738299899 from the registered mobile number. The format of the message should be EPFOHO UAN LAN; one has to replace UAN with your 12-digit UAN and replace LAN with your language (the code for the Hindi language is HIN, and for the English language, it is ENG).
An SMS will be received on the registered mobile number, which will have details such as PF balance and KYC details.
Basic requirements to receive PF balance through SMS -
According to the reports, a few things are of utmost importance to take advantage of this service.
Firstly, your UAN should be active.
Secondly, your mobile number, Aadhaar card, PAN card, and bank details must be linked to your UAN; in this case, the UAN and mobile number can be linked with the assistance of your employer or by visiting the EPFO office.
The authorities have suggested that it is a ‘free of cost’ service as there will be no charge for missed calls or SMS. The only requirement for the service is a registered mobile number.
