In the latest development of Ex-Cong councillor Sushil Kalia suicide case, Jalandhar Police has registered a case against former BJP MLA KD Bhandari. Apart from this, a case has been registered against those whose names surfaced in the suicide note. Jalandhar police has till now made no arrests in the suicide case.

Reportedly, on 28th January 2023, former Congress councillor Sushil Kali dies by suicide after consuming poison. He was rushed to the hospital after the consumption of poison but died within a few hours. Post this, a suicide note surfaced from his residence in which the deceased accused various political party leaders of his suicide. He left one and half page suicide note accusing Ex-MLA KD Bhandari of torturing him because of which he took such a serious step.

Former BJP MLA KD Bhandari while reacting to the case registered said that all the allegations put on him are baseless and false. He stated that he has never in person met Sushil Kalia and was never involved in torturing or blackmailing him. He further added that he will fully support Jalandhar Police regarding the investigation. He said, “I have written a mail to DGP Gaurav Yadav stating all the facts that prove that I am nowhere responsible for his suicide. I will cooperate with the police as I have full faith in them. I know that justice will be delivered.” Former BJP MLA KD Bhandari has been in power twice and said that BJP is in his support.

Last year, the police registered a corruption case against Sushil Kalia and his family. Sushil Kalia and his family members. They were accused of misuse of MLA funds. He was later granted bail from High Court whereas his son’s bail was rejected. Sushil Kali’s son then appealed for bail in Supreme Court and was granted the same.
