A group of influential lawmakers in the US has introduced a bill in Congress to repeal about 380,000 unused family and employment-based visas, leaving huge numbers waiting for green cards.

People doing this can get a chance, especially immigrants coming from India and China can get green card visas. That is, the people of India and China will benefit from this.

Thousands of employment-based categories of people from both these countries are currently waiting for decades for their green card or permanent legal residency.

Presenting The Jumpstart Our Legal Immigration System Act, Chairman of the House Immigrants and Citizenship Subcommittee Joe Lofgren proposes to cancel about 2,22,000 unused family visas and about 1,57,000 employment visas.

These visas could not be used due to delays or bureaucracy. This will allow immigrant US residents to apply for legal permanent residency (LPR) status.

How will Indians get benefit?

With this, a large number of Indians will be allowed to work in America and the children dependent on them will get LPR status.

"We all know that our immigration system is flawed and has needed reform for decades," Lofgren said.
Congress member Chu said, the number of people waiting for family visas is more than 4 million, who are waiting to see their loved ones again.

Will help in issuing holding visas

“Canceling non-use visas will help in issuing already stuck visas to migrant families and workers,” he said. Earlier there was news that a major committee of the US Congress has passed a law.

To eliminate the cap on the issuance of green cards to each country on employment-based migrant visas and increase this limit from 7 to 15 per cent for family-based migrant visas. This will benefit migrants from India and China.
