Former PM Nawaz Sharif's younger brother
 
Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and is a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MP. 

He took the membership in the National Assembly on 13 August 2018 and Since then he has been a prominent leader of the opposition. 

Shehbaz Sharif had been the Chief Minister of Punjab province three times before the claim for the post of PM. He served the longest tenure as the CM of Punjab.

After the partition, the whole family moved to Pakistan

He was born on 23 September 1951 in Lahore. His father was a businessman and often used to visit Anantnag in Kashmir for business matters. 

Later the whole family settled in Amritsar. When the partition was in 1947, the whole family settled in Lahore, Pakistan. 


Abbas Sharif and Nawaz Sharif have two elder brothers than Shehbaz. Talking about Nawaz Sharif has been the Prime Minister of Pakistan three times. 

Shehbaz married his cousin, after which both have four children. After that in 2003, Shehbaz married for the second time.

How was the political journey
  
If we talk about politics, then Shehbaz's entry took place in the 1980s. He contested the first election in 1988 and won but the assembly was dissolved in 1990. 

In 1990, he again won the election from Punjab province as well as won the National Assembly election. 

After which he was elected to the National Assembly. He won the election of Lahore Assembly and National Assembly in 1993 elections. But this time he left the seat of the National Assembly. 

Three-time CM of Punjab

He was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Punjab province for the first time in the year 1997. But in 1999, the army overthrew the government and he lost his CM post. In 2008 and 2013, Shehbaz Sharif again became the CM of Punjab.

Shehbaz was defeated by Imran in 2018

In Pakistan's general election in 2018, PML-N declared Shehbaz Sharif as the prime ministerial candidate. But in this election, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party leader Imran Khan won the election. 

In the year 2020, Shehbaz Sharif was arrested for money laundering. But in April 2021, he got bail from the Lahore High Court.
