Former Punjab Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu has rejected the claims regarding writing a letter to the Congress High Command. According to reports, the letter mentioned that he does not want the involvement of certain senior Punjab Congress leaders in his campaign.
However, in a recent video shared by the former minister, he appealed to the media to cross-check the facts before telecasting or sharing them with the public. He furthermore mentioned that certain news organizations have spread FAKE news regarding the issuing of the letter.
He clarified that he had not written any such letter and requested the public not to fall for misinformation.
What was the matter?
According to certain reports, ahead of the Ludhiana West Assembly by-election, Congress candidate Bharat Bhushan Ashu has written a letter to the Congress High Command, making it clear that he does not want the involvement of certain senior Punjab Congress leaders in his campaign.
Reportedly, the reports claimed that the letter was about Raja Warring, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Partap Bajwa, Sanjay Talwar, and Simranjeet Singh Bains. The ‘fake’ letter outlined that former Minister Ashu has mentioned that the above-mentioned ministers should not be present during the polls drive.
The letter has brought growing fissures in the Punjab Congress to the fore and raised eyebrows mere weeks ahead of the crucial by-election. Sources indicate Ashu's action has been precipitated by internal rivalries and deep-seated mistrust of these leaders, some of whom have earlier run into conflicts with him over party tactics and regional leadership matters.
The Congress High Command has not made an official statement so far, but the news has caused political shockwaves in the state. With factionalism emerging at this crucial moment, the party's capacity to project a united face in Ludhiana West is now being questioned.
