As the weekend is approaching, an image has been circulating on social media about the declaration of a public holiday on June 6, Friday, making the first weekend of June 2025 a long weekend. 

The viral post further claims that on this day, all institutions, including schools, banks, and government offices, will remain closed. 

However, is this true, or is it just another viral fake post spreading across social media? 

The fact - 

If we conduct deep and diligent research online, then it can be reported that there is no such available true and strong evidence that proves that a national holiday will be marked on June 6, 2025, Friday. 

Furthermore, for the bank holidays, the official website of the Reserve Bank of India, which could be abbreviated as RBI, was checked, which revealed that there is no such holiday on June 6, 2025, except in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. 

It is to be reported that there is no such announcement made by any news portal or government website. However, a news article by Business Standard has talked about the bank holiday in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on the above-mentioned date to mark the occasion of Bakrid. 

Is June 6, 2025, a bank holiday?

According to the official announcement by the RBI on their official website, the banks in only two Indian states will remain closed on June 6, 2025, on the occasion of Bakrid - which means that the remaining states will remain closed on June 7, 2025, excluding Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi, and Thiruvananthapuram.
