Social media has been buzzing after it was claimed that Indian industrialist & former chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata announced Rs 10 crore reward for Rashid Khan for holding the Tricolour in his hand after Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in World Cup 2023. Many social media users claimed that Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan will get a reward of Rs 10 crore from the veteran Indian industrialist Ratan Tata after the ICC reportedly fined him Rs 55 lakh for holding the Tiranga during his celebration. While many users in India and Afghanistan claimed that the report is absurd and fake, a section of fans continue to propagate the reports on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Ratan Tata on Monday took to his official X handle and refused the reports saying that he has pledged to reward Rashid Khan Rs 10 crore for holding the Tricolour after Pakistan's defeat. The 85-year-old philanthropist wrote, "I have made no suggestions to the ICC or any cricket faculty about any cricket member regarding a fine or reward to any players. I have no connection to cricket whatsoever. Please do not believe WhatsApp forwards and videos of such nature unless they come from my official…"
It means the reports suggesting Ratan Tata's reward to Rashid Khan is fake.
How did the Rashid Khan-Ratan Tata controversy erupt?
Many users commented on an Afghani YouTuber's page. A user wrote, "Pakistan Complain to ICC aganist Rasid Khan during his victory celebration with indian flag ICC fine 55 lakh aganist Rasid Khan but Ratan Tata declare 10 crore to Rasid Khan"
One more user wrote, "I congratulate Sri Ratan Tata for extending financial support to cricketer Rashid khan who has been fined ₹55 lacs by ICC for braving Bhartiya flag on his chest while celebrating victory over Pakistan. OUR SICKULAR JOURNALIST are silent over this."
It is pertinent to mention here that a YouTube was also made in which Rashid Khan was shown holding a tricolor during Afghanistan's celebration after they defeated Pakistan. However, on digging deeper, True Scoop News found out that Rashid Khan never held the Tricolour during Afghanistan's celebration. He wrapped Afghanistan's flag around his neck and also danced with former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan after defeating Pakistan in the Cricket World Cup 2023.
