The arrest of farmers began as soon as the government in Punjab shifted. The government of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is taking this step against those who do not repay agricultural development bank loans. For this, arrest warrants of 2 thousand farmers have been prepared in the state. Some of these warrants are new, while others have been renewed. The government has to recover 3200 crores from 71 thousand farmers. Farmers' associations were outraged when they learned about this. They have sent a protest warning to the authorities. Officials from the government, on the other hand, have remained silent on the subject.

In Punjab, 60 thousand farmers have defaulted on their payments. At the moment, preparations are being made to recover 1150 crores by strictly enforcing the law. Banks were only able to recover 200 crores in the previous season.

Balbir Rajewal, a leader of the Samyukta Samaj Morcha, stated that the AAP government has granted this exemption to employees of cooperative institutions under section 67A in order to collect cooperative bank loans. During the Barnala administration, this portion was suspended. He stated that he would not remain mute in opposition to it.
