Fake Vaccination Camp: What did we get, asks worried vaccine recipients in Kolkata

Several fake vaccine camps have been exposed across the country, and now people in Kolkata are afraid of to take vaccine. People who have taken jabs of the Covid-19 vaccine are also afraid due to fake vaccine camps as some are facing health issues.

On Thursday, Koushik Das, a security guard at Kasba New Market, complained about a nagging pain in his right arm, now it has been ten days since he took the Covid-19 vaccine at a camp organized by Debanjan Deb. 

Mousumi Pal, a homemaker from Rajdanga Main Road, shared her post-vaccination experience and said she is having a constant headache since she had taken the Covid-19 vaccine dose.

Debasish Barui, a KMC medical officer, reportedly held a 10-day vaccine camp in Kasba, where he allegedly supplied the doses of Sputnik V. Debasish said nearly 70 people were vaccinated at the Kasba camp, highlighted that maximum of them were suffering from panic attacks after the Police arrested the organizer of the camp (Debanjan Deb). 

The Health Body, KMC, had made it clear that they would provide health assistance to those who have been suffering from post-vaccine symptoms. The civic body official said, “If there would be a need, we will organize medical camps in Kasba to take care of the recipients who might fall it.”

Barui was one of the medical experts which visited to examine the health of the recipients and dispel doubts about the ill effects of a fake vaccine. Barui after visiting the 70 people, told the media agency, “I interacted with around 70 recipients, most of whom showed signs of nervousness. Some of them were scared about the effect of the liquid administered to them as the so-called vaccine is like to be proved fake. Sensing that such behaviour was triggered by a panic attack, I assured them that there is nothing to worry about.”

Some of the people are a bit suspicious when they felt no side-effect after taking the jabs.

Police investigation:

Police immediately arrested one Debanjan Dev in south Kolkata, who allegedly pretended to be an IAS officer and supervised thousands of vaccinations.

The police are now investigating the shots given to people and whether they were vaccines past their expiry date. Kolkata Police and KMC who are jointly investigating the fake vaccine case have come to know that Dev had organized another camp in Amherst Street City College where 70 people, including the professors and their families, were vaccinated.

Police have also come to know that this Kasba New Market camp was running for the last 12 days and more than 1,000 people were vaccinated.
