Former
Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Siddhu will arrange another show of
strength, his second in one week at Ludhiana today. The meeting of Siddhu
Loyalists scheduled at Former MLA Rakesh Pandey’s residence is expected to be a
show of strength to press his claim for the Top post in Congress once again,
according to the experts.
Ever since
the electoral debacle of Congress in Punjab, Siddhu and his supporters have
been putting the blame squarely on Charanjit Singh Channi saying that the
elections were contested on 111 days tenure of Channi and with him only as of the
face. So Channi is the one who has to be blamed for this debacle.
It must be
noted that three days back 20 Siddhu Loyalists had another meeting like this at
Sultanpur Lodhi which was attended among others by Sitting MLA Sukhpal Khaira
and Balwinder Dhariwal. In that meeting Navtej Cheema and Gurpreet GP, The
losing candidates from Sultanpur Lodhi and Bassi Pathana respectively vented
their anger against Channi.
Traditional
Congressmen are opposing the appointment of Siddhu as party chief and leaders like
Manish Tiwari and Sukhjinder Randhawa have openly raised questions about the appointment of Siddhu.
Siddhu is
considered a Priyanka loyalist but he had refused to address a rally at Dhuri
in her presence and also refused to campaign Pan-Punjab after Channi was
declared CM Face by Rahul Gandhi. Siddhu has never been in the good books of
Interim President of Congress Mrs. Sonia Gandhi.
