In  Jalandhar, a major domestic dispute involving a prominent family has come to light. The owner of CT Group of Institutes, his son and wife have been booked by the daughter-in-law for harassment. The case has been filed after taking legal counsel from the public prosecutor and a thorough investigation.

The police have discovered a startling fact while looking into the case. When CT Group owner Charanjit Singh's daughter-in-law moved to the US after getting fed up with a serious illness due to mental problems, her son took a one-sided divorce by filing a divorce case in the Jalandhar court from behind.

NRI Thana Police have charged CT Group owner Charanjit Singh, wife Parminder Kaur, and son Harpreet Singh for dowry harassment, mental and physical abuse, section 498A of the Indian Penal Code. A case has been registered under section 506 of the Indian penal code for intimidation and section 406 of the Indian penal code for breach of trust. The case has been registered at NRI Police Station Mohali on the complaint of Harpreet Singh's wife Seerat Kaur.

Seerat has accused Harpreet of taking drugs as well as doing wrong things by going abroad. A case against Harpreet under the NDPS Act had also been requested by Seerat. However, the police have registered only a case of family dispute. According to Seerat, Harpreet frequently hit her while intoxicated. Harpreet has a gun that he used to threaten her.

Once when he caught her red-handed while intoxicating cocaine along with one of his friend Kaka, he ran after her with a pistol. Then, with much struggle, she managed to save herself. When she complained, the mother-in-law did not support her, instead, she used to support her son only.

Because of the abuse and harassment, she decided to move to America with her 2 children.

She had a major illness after moving to America as a result of her mental condition. When she returned to India after recovering from her illness, she became mentally disturbed. She is still undergoing treatment. Seerat claimed that her in-laws constantly harassed her mother for money.
