AnFIR under SC/ST Act, has been registered against Prakash Jha directed ‘Aashram’web series in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur for allegedly promoting caste discriminationagainst Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.

Asper reports, in the first episode of the first part of the web series, thepeople of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities have been insulted anddisrespectful words were used while denoting lower and upper class people, promoting discrimination.

DRMeghwa, in his complaint to the Station House Officer of Luni, Sitaram Pawarsaid that in one of the scenes in the web series, the upper caste people areshown insulting and assaulting the people of alleged lower castes, promoting castediscrimination and untouchability.

Thecomplainant said that due to such poor portrayal of castes and communities in webseries and movies etc, incidents like assaulting and lynching are taking placeduring the marriage processions of SC/ST communities in western Rajasthan.
