An FIR under SC/ST Act, has been registered against Prakash Jha directed ‘Aashram’ web series in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur for allegedly promoting caste discrimination against Schedule Castes and Schedule Tribes.

As per reports, in the first episode of the first part of the web series, the people of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities have been insulted and disrespectful words were used while denoting lower and upper class people, promoting discrimination.

DR Meghwa, in his complaint to the Station House Officer of Luni, Sitaram Pawar said that in one of the scenes in the web series, the upper caste people are shown insulting and assaulting the people of alleged lower castes, promoting caste discrimination and untouchability.  

The complainant said that due to such poor portrayal of castes and communities in web series and movies etc, incidents like assaulting and lynching are taking place during the marriage processions of SC/ST communities in western Rajasthan.
