Gearingup for the mammoth inoculation drive in the district on January 16, 2021,Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today reviewed the preparedness tovaccinate as many as 11800 frontline healthcare workers in the district in thefirst phase.

Divulgingthe details, the Deputy Commissioner said for the Day-1 vaccination a total offive Session sites have been finalized to administer the vaccine that includessub-divisional government hospital Nakodar, urban community health center BastiGujan, SGL Charitable Hospital, Shriman Hospital, and Civil Hospital Jalandhar.However, the district administration has planned vaccination at as many as 29sites in the district, which would be functional as the drive moves aheadadding he said that these sites include different CHCs, PHCs, the districthospital, sub-divisional hospitals, and some private hospitals.

Thedeputy commissioner said that with the capacity to store over 12 lakh vaccines,a total of 57 cold chain points have been set up of which 11 points (Eight inrural and Three in urban areas) to be utilized to store the first slot ofvaccine scheduled to arrive within days.

Revealingmore, he said that after the 28 days of the first dose, the second dose wouldbe administered to the listed healthcare workers and an elaborate mechanism hasbeen evolved to ensure the smooth vaccination drive.

Hesaid that a total of 31 health teams would be administering the vaccines acrossall 29 session sites and each team has a target to vaccinate 100 beneficiariesper day resulting in vaccinating of as many as 2900 beneficiaries daily, headded.

Givinginformation about the storage capacity and preparedness, the deputycommissioner said that the district administration has built the capacity tostore over 12 lakh vaccines with all points linked with cooling features tomaintain the required temperature for the vaccine.

Prominentamong others present include SDM Rahul Sindhu, SDM Dr. Jai Inder Singh, SDMGaurav Jain, SDM Dr. Vineet Kumar, SDM Dr. Sanjiv Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr.Balwinder Singh, and District Immunization Officer Rakesh Chopra.
