Flood Alert issued in Gurdaspur, Amritsar- Tarn Taran: Around 20 thousand cusecs of water released in Punjab

Due to the ongoing floods in Punjab, a flood alert has been issued in Gurdaspur, Amritsar Tarn-Taran. Schools has been transformed into relief camps.

In Kotkapura, Punjab, a house has collapsed due to the continuous rain. The family members that include the husband, wife and child have passed away as a result of being buried. Pong Dam's floodgates have been opened today. According to information provided by the Bhakra Beas Management, a total of 20,000 cusecs of water will be discharged, and this water can travel by night to Gurdaspur, Amritsar, and Tarn Taran.

Therefore, Beas' water level could rise as a result. People living in low-lying regions have been urged by the local district government to exercise caution. Meanwhile, security procedures have already been planned in these locations, and surrounding schools have also been transformed into relief camps. Farmers have voiced concerns about the canal that runs from Harike to Rajasthan not releasing water. Additionally, the issue of water distribution has been brought up once more.

On the other hand, the Budha Dariya dam in Ludhiana has been breached. Water has now entered the nearby areas as a result. On Tajpur Road, a number of dairy are underwater. The bridge in the village of Bhukdi Kala across another filthy drain collapsed at the same time. The previous administration constructed this bridge two years ago. Three bridges across the drain have already been destroyed.
