Former BJP MP Babul Supriyo joins TMC months after he bid “Alvida” to politics

Ex-BJP MP Babul Supriyo joined Trinamool Congress months after saying he is “Quitting Politics.”

On Saturday, Babul Supriyo, a former Union Minister in the Environment Ministry joined Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (TMC), in presence of the party's Rajya Sabha MP Derek O Brien and TMC National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee. He took this step a month after he bided ‘Alvida’ to politics.

Supriyo is the fifth BJP leader to join Trinamool Congress after Banerjee's party won the assembly election in May and retained power.

The reports were confirmed by the official Twitter handle of the party, the tweet read, “Today, in the presence of National General Secretary @abhishekaitc and RS MP @derekobrienmp, former Union Minister and sitting MP @SuPriyoBabul joined the Trinamool family. We take this opportunity to extend a very warm welcome to him!”

While saying bye to politics and BJP he said, “Alvida I am not going to any other party - TMC, Congress, CPIM, nowhere. I am confirming that nobody has called. I am going nowhere. I am a one-team player! Have always supported one team #MohunBagan - have been with only one party- BJP West Bengal. That’s it!!”
