Four child labourers rescued from rubber industry in surgical complex in Jalandhar

Police taking action against the erring persons

Continuing its drive to eliminate child labor menace from the district, a labor task force of administration on the directive of Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Ghanshyam Thori onTuesday evening rescued four child laborers including from a Rubber Industry in Surgical Complex, located at Jalandhar-Kapurthala road.

 

Acting on a complaint from an NGO, a team headed by District Program Officer Gurminder Singh Randhawa accompanied by police force reached the factory Preet Rubber Industry, Leather Complex on Jalandhar-Kapurthala road.

 

Disclosing the details, DPO Gurminder Singh Randhawa said that a total of four children were rescued from the unit.  He said that after the medical examination the rescued children were produced before the Child Welfare Committee adding the committee handed over one of the rescued children to his parents as his age was above than the requisite age prescribed under the Act.

He further added that one child was sent to Pingla Ghar while two others have been shifted to Rajpura protection home. The DPO said that police department was taking legal action against the erring people for inducting child labor in their firm.

 

Prominent among present during the raid included LPO Sandeep Singh, CPO Harneet Kaur, SHO Basti Bawa Khel Police Station Gagandeep Singh Sekhon, Deputy Director Factory Sukhminder Singh, Labour Enforcement Officer Chandan Gill, and others.
