Fugitive Amritpal Singh was arrested by the Punjab Police from Moga on Sunday morning. According to sources, Waris Punjab De Chief Amritpal was arrested from a gurudwara in Rode village of Moga. Now, Amritpal Singh will be taken to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam by flight from Bathinda. A case has been registered against Amritpal under NSA Act.
Amritpal Singh was absconding for the last 36 days. Amritpal attacked the Ajnala police station in Punjab on February 23 for the release of one of his supporters Lovepreet Singh Toofan. Since this incident, the police has been looking for him.
Amritpal Singh was arrested from where he had performed the Dastarbandi ceremony in Rode village to become the Mukhi of Waris Punjab De.
For the unversed, on April 20 Amritpal's NRI wife Kirandeep Kaur was stopped by immigration officials at Amritsar airport. She was going to London. Kirandeep was interrogated for 3 hours at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport. After this she was released. After which the pressure to arrest Amritpal was increased.
