The box office is on fire ever since Sunny Deol-Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 was released in theaters on August 11. After Hollywood movies Barbie and Oppenheimer created chaos at the global box office including India by raking in more than Rs 100 crore, India was eagerly waiting for the release of its two movies- Gadar 2 and Oh My God 2. While pre-bookings gave the idea that Gadar 2 will bring the storm back onto the box but after its release, it shattered all predictions and became the second-highest-earning movie on the opening day of the year 2023. Gadar 2 is expected to be Sunny Deol's biggest movie of his film career. Gadar 2 made Rs 40 crore on its opening day in theatres, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Also, the film registered an overall occupancy of over 60% on day one, while night shows accounted for a stunning 86% occupancy. As Gadar 2 has minted Rs 40 crore on its opening day, it has also become the second-biggest opener of 2023. However, Gadar 2 could not break Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan opening day record.

For the unversed, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is the biggest opener of 2023 with the movie minting Rs 57 crore nett. On the other hand, Prabhas-starrer Adipurush occupies the third spot with a collection of Rs 37 crore nett (in Hindi). Talking about OMG 2, Akshay Kumar-Pankaj Tripathi's movie got off to a decent start, raking in Rs 10 crore on its opening day. Notably, OMG 2 is also getting high praise on social media. Infact, film critic Taran Adarsh lavished his praise on Oh My God 2 calling it brave and courageous movie.

Sunny Deol Seeks Blessings at Golden Temple Ahead of Gadar 2 release

Before the release of the movie, Sunny Deol visited Amritsar on August 5 to promote his upcoming film Gadar-2. Sunny went to the hotel after flying at Amritsar airport early in the morning and dressed up as Tara Singh from his film Gadar. Sunny then went to the Golden Temple to seek the blessings of the gurus. His team was also present there.He was seen worshipping in the temple premises, dressed in a yellow kurta pajamas and an olive green turban. Sunny made the rounds of the Golden Temple and offered prayers at the Gurughar. Apart from Shri Harmandir Sahib, Sunny Deol also visited Wagah Broder and promoted his movie on the India-Pakistan border.
