Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt is going to set the silver screen on fire with her upcoming release. Directed by veteran Sanjay Leela Bhansali,  Gangubai Kathiawadi is considered to be Alia Bhatt's most powerful movie till now.  Before the release of the film, Alia Bhatt opens up about the controversies related to the film.

The film has been embroiled in several controversies. Talking about it, Alia said, “Neither any controversy nor any comment bothers me”. Recently, Kangana Ranaut took a dig at actress Alia Bhatt by calling her a "bimbo" and filmmaker Karan Johar's 'papa ki pari". She earlier lashed out at Alia sharing a child’s picture, she wrote, “Should this child imitate a sex worker with a beedi in her mouth and crude and obscene dialogues?"

Apart from this, Gangubai’s family said that this film has defamed their family image. Gangubai’s adopted son Babu Raoji Shah and granddaughter Bharti are not happy with the film.

During an interview with AajTak, Babu Raoji said, “My mother has been turned into a prostitute. People are now saying inexplicable things about my mother."

"The way Gangubai was portrayed is completely wrong and baseless. It is vulgar. You are representing a social activist as a prostitute. Which family would like it? You have made her a vamp and lady don," said Gangubai’s family lawyer, Narendra.

Sanjay Leela Bansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi is all set to hit the theatres on 25th February. The film had its much-awaited world premiere at the prestigious 72nd Berlin International Film Festival.
