Gang war in modern jail, four prisoners injured: One referred to Amritsar

In a gang war in Katpurthala Modern Jail, four people were injured. One of them has been referred to Amritsar for treatment.

(Report by Ashish Puri) Today early morning in a gang war in Kapurthala Modern Jail, four prisoners were injured. They have been admitted to the emergency ward of Civil Hospital Kapurthala. One seriously injured inmate has been referred to Amritsar for medical treatment. According to sources, the seriously injured inmate has died, although the jail administration is not willing to provide any information on the matter.

Doctors Navdeep Kaur and Vivek on duty at the emergency ward of Civil Hospital stated that in the morning, the jail staff brought four injured inmates, Simranjit Singh, Surinder Singh, Amanpreet Singh, and Varinder Singh, from Kapurthala Modern Jail. Due to the critical condition of one inmate, Simranjit Singh, he was referred to Amritsar. The other three injured inmates are currently receiving treatment in the surgical ward.

The admitted prisoners at the civil hospital revealed that they were sleeping in their barracks when suddenly some other inmates attacked them with iron rods, resulting in serious injuries.

Sources revealed that this gang war occurred due to an old rivalry. Some inmates initiated the attack on the aforementioned prisoners while they were sleeping. The Kotwali Police Station is investigating the case. We attempted to contact SP-Jail Iqbal Singh Dhaliwal multiple times for more information, but he did not respond to our calls.
