Now, the question why did Gautam Gambhir quit politics? Below is what the former cricketer said-

Why did Gautam Gambhir quit politics?

The answer is to focus on his cricket commitments. Gambhir on his X handle wrote, "I have requested Hon’ble Party President @JPNadda ji to relieve me of my political duties so that I can focus on my upcoming cricket commitments. I sincerely thank Hon’ble PM @narendramodi ji and Hon’ble HM @AmitShah ji for giving me the opportunity to serve the people. Jai Hind!"

Notably, Gautam Gambhir joined the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He defeated AAP's Atishi from East Delhi constituency. The announcement comes weeks ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. His remark indicates he will not contest the Lok Sabha elections from Delhi this time.

Talking about his cricket commitments, Gautam Gambhir in 2023 was appointed as Team mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR is co-owned by Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan. Before, KKR, Gambhir had to quit Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as the team mentor.

Welcoming Gambhir back to KKR, Shah Rukh Khan had said, "Gautam has always been part of the family and this is our Captain coming back home in a different avatar as a "Mentor". He was sorely missed and now we all look forward to Chandu Sir and Gautam in instilling the never-say-die spirit and of sportsmanship, they stand for, in creating magic with Team KKR."
