Goa Hotel Manager drowns wife at sea in staged ‘accident’ to hide affair; arrested

A 5-star hotel manager was arrested in Goa for allegedly drowning his wife at the Cabo-de-Rama beach after she accused him of having an extramarital affair. The accused identified as Gaurav Katiyar, 29, tried to cover the murder as an accident, claiming that his wife, Diksha Gangwar, had drowned while he was away. However, a video shot by nearby witness exposed his claim, and he was subsequently arrested by the police.

 

According to reports, Gaurav had took her wife out for a stroll on the Cabo-de-Rama beach on Friday at about 3:45 PM. He took her to a rocky area of the beach and proceeded to drown her there. Injury marks indicating a struggle were found on the victim’s body. After the murder, Gaurav created commotion in the area tried to pass off the incident as an accident. A video captured by a nearby person exposed him however, as he was exiting the crime scene and returning to confirm his wife’s death before creating the commotion. 

 

Nearby tourists saw the accused going to the crime scene and then returning from the scene with his wife nowhere to be seen. Following this they informed the police who arrived at the scene and arrested the accused. Gaurav had decided to kill his wife as she knew that he was having an affair, the police informs. Him and his wife, Diksha Gangwar, were married about an year ago but their relationship remained strained, they further added. Injury marks were found on her body, which indicate a struggle, further incriminating the accused according to the police.
