The message was vaguely worded, which, to be precise, read, “Gemini will soon be able to help you use Phone, Messages, WhatsApp and Utilities on your phone.”

Google Gemini update, Gemini privacy concerns, is Google reading chats, WhatsApp AI access, disable Gemini apps activity, Google AI data tracking, Gemini WhatsApp access- True Scoop

Google Gemini has been engaging with our mobile phone utilities like Phone, Messages, and WhatsApp. Recently, on July 7, various Android users received a suspicious email from Google, which read that Google has changed its settings and now its AI tool will be interacting with the applications of their phones.

The message was vaguely worded, which, to be precise, read, “Gemini will soon be able to help you use Phone, Messages, WhatsApp and Utilities on your phone.” According to the recent email, Gemini will continue to read the activity of the user even if they have turned off Gemini Apps activity on the device.

Along with this, the official website of Google also highlighted that “Gemini Apps give you direct access to Google AI and that your chats are saved in your account for up to 72 hours, whether Gemini Apps activity is on or off.” This evidently shows that irrespective of the user’s preference, Google will be storing the user’s data, which might include the contacts or content on WhatsApp.

On the one hand, Gemini’s new update is very useful as it will now allow the AI chatbot to read the messages (on WhatsApp), understand them, and reply to them on your behalf. However, on the contrary, the users are anxious after knowing that their personal chats might get explosive and the encryption of the social media application will be disturbed.

How to stop the interference of Google Gemini?

It is easy to disable Gemini Apps Activity for all connected apps. The user simply has to open Gemini on the Android phone; then, after tapping on the profile picture from the top right, the user has to click on the option reading “Gemini Apps Activity.”

This will redirect you to a new page, where a toggle will allow the user to quickly turn off the feature. However, it is to be noted that even after turning the feature off, Google will be storing one’s data for up to 72 hours in order “to maintain the safety and security of the Gemini apps.”

Along with this, if you want to remove Gemini’s access from a certain application, then in the Gemini application, go to your profile and click on Apps, where you’ll be able to choose the application from which you want to add or remove the access to Gemini.
